Austin Pinkney, has a sharp working ‘edge’ and creative perception drawn from his extensive experience working both in industry and higher education areas: Fine Art, Illustration, Typography and Graphic Design.
Austin, is rather a melting-pot of highly innovative ideas–a professional mystic and an enigmatic ideasman/imagemaker. He has been a practising artist/designer since 1979.
He is a noted ambassador for ‘Art Without Boundaries’, and dislikes the pigeonholing and needless suffocation caused by blinkered visual constraints.
He has participated in over one hundred mixed and group art and design exhibitions of significance and twenty solo exhibitions in England, Ireland and Germany. Fifteen of his solo shows being held between 1997-2005.
Since 2005, he has been engaged upon many ongoing projects: public and private commissions for hospitals, and installations of large paintings, graphics and composites for industrial, municipal redevelopments and environmental recovery. His personal working schedule is increasingly prodigious, and includes an extremely wide variety of clients.
He finds that working with such a varied and rapid synchronicity helps one idea to feed another–bringing the ‘unexpected’ into play:
“It is exactly this ‘process and progress’ of active serendipity that excites me. The interchange of ideas and the awakening of serendipity: chance, change and fruitful ‘accident’ and the unexpected rewards found in the production of refreshing art and design.” –Austin Pinkney 2009
